This is one of the newest and most impressive bars from the French maker, Ara. As with all its other bars, this is made from Venezuelan cacao. This 70% bar is particularly smooth, and sweet for a dark chocolate bar.
The 70% Agua Fria dark chocolate has an almost floral aroma, and the initial flavour notes we put as somewhere between lemon curd and salted caramel – a truly indulgent treat. Despite this initial hit of sweetness, the bar has a slightly smoky and astringent finish, with hints of coffee.
Andres and Sabrina, the French-based Venezuelan husband and wife team behind Ara have managed a huge feat. Despite being fairly new to the world of chocolate, they have created a seriously impressive portfolio of bars. The combination of cacao from the central and southern Americas and Madagascar and traditional French chocolate making techniques has resulted in a spectacular array of bars.
