Having spent much of my childhood in Devon and Cornwall I've seen more than my fair share of gorse flower - but I have never, until now, actually tried it. Now I have, I am utterly addictive. The flavour is unique, at first it came across as coconut, but that was the flavour that the 40% Javan milk chocolate used in this bar. On further research gorse flower, itself has a toasted coconut flavour.
It's the balance of the sweetness, which just wins the show against this mellow, intriguing flavour of the gorse flower that should easily be appreciated. It may not be a chocolate that you will finish in one sitting, but a bar that you will keep coming back to over a number of days.
