For this single origin malted dark chocolate bar, Phil at Land has used cocoa beans from San Pedro Sula in Honduras. Crafting his chocolate in London’s very own Bethnal Green, cacao from Latin America plays a central role in Land’s first chocolate collection.
Unlike his other dark Honduran bar, Phil has roasted the cocoa beans over a longer period which results in a bar that really teases out the flavour profile of the bean. The longer roast accentuates the coffee aroma of the Honduran cocoa which in turn compliments the sweetness of the malt barley addition; not dissimilar to the flavour of a digestive biscuit. The malt barley was sourced from a local brewery making this as much a celebration of British craft produce as fine Honduran cacao!
This bar achieved a Silver at the Academy of Chocolate Awards 2017.
