Naive Tahini blends unexpected flavours in order to create a creamy milk chocolate bar with a difference. Naive has created three new collections of craft chocolate, designed to explore the creative possibilities of cacao.
This bar is part of the Equator collection. Head chocolate maker Domantas wanted to only use ingredients grown along the length of the equator. He believes the vibrant flavours, all of which thrive at similar altitude will naturally complement one another.
Tahini is made from toasted and ground sesame and used widely in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Though this is a far cry from the tropical forests of Bolivia, Sesame is native to sub-Saharan Africa.
While Tahini and chocolate is perhaps not the first combination that comes to mind, we think this bar is well-worth a try.
The added sesame gives the milk a slightly soft texture, interspersed with a subtle crunch from the seeds. The bar has a sweetness and touch of cream too. Mild earthy hints swirl through and reminded us a little of sweet sauteed mushrooms.
