An aptly named smooth dark chocolate from Australian maker The Smooth Chocolator.
We found this Tanzanian bar has an interesting sweet and sour dimension. There is a contrasting blend of sugared morello cherries and peaches and cream on the nose. We also noted a floral fragrance, which helps to create a surprising mix of flavours. The bar comes to a calmer conclusion with tingling sherbet finish.
The Smooth Chocolator has crafted this bar using Tanzanian beans from Kokoa Kamili’s 2015 harvest. Based in the Kilombero Valley of Tanzania, Kokoa Kamili pays above market prices for high quality wet beans from a network of local farmers. They then ferment and dry these and sell them on to artisan makers. The set up benefits everyone as the farmers get more money for their crop without having to worry about the post-harvest stages or finding buyers interested in the beans. Meanwhile artisan makers have access to great beans from an origin that in the past has been difficult to access. As well as The Smooth Chocolator makers such as Damson and Naive are using Kokoa Kamili’s beans to craft great bars.
